Florence Police Department Announces the Passing of Retired Police K9 Hercules

It is with heavy heart that the Florence Police Department announces the passing of retired Police K9 Hercules. K9 Hercules worked with his partners Officer Gina Butler and Officer Eddie Grissom, from March 2016 until he retired in June of 2022. During his career Hercules was instrumental in locating and recovering narcotics from the streets of Florence. He was known for his fun personality and his desire to work serving the citizens of Florence.

K9 Hercules was donated to the Florence Police Department by Global K9 Protection Services from Franklin, TN. At two years old, he began his career as a Police K9. Hercules underwent extensive training, learning the skills needed to work the streets of Florence. He maintained his membership with the United States Police Canine Association throughout his career. He completed yearly certifications and remained dedicated to constant training to hone his skill set.

In the spring of 2022, K9 Hercules began to suffer from a medical condition that restricted his ability to meet the physical demands of his job. He retired and enjoyed his time relaxing with his handler, Ofc. Grissom and his family. On November 17, 2022, K9 Hercules passed at the age of eight.

Thank you K9 Hercules for your service.
