Leighton recently issued the following announcement.
Dear Parents,
The Colbert County School system is in close communication with ADPH District Medical Officer Dr. Karen Landers regarding COVID-19. At this time, we have been advised by the Alabama Department of Public Health for Disease Control and Prevention
to cancel all school-related events and activities until April 30th.
As we receive information, we will post updates to social media pages and the school website. Dr. Satchel will also call everyone on all-call and leave a detailed message with information.
In the event of school closures, classes will be offered online and Chromebooks will be available for checkout. If your student does not have Wi-Fi, your student may complete assignments that are available for download without an internet connection. Your student may also take home a paper packet with class work.
The health and safety of your students, our campuses, and our communities are of utmost importance. We will continue to remain in close contact with the Alabama Department of Public Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
We are prepared with a plan in place to address the need for areas of isolation, food distribution, and various student needs. Please know that the precautionary measures taken are to ensure the overall safety and well-being of all Colbert County students.
For additional information, please contact Dr. Gale Satchel -gsatchel@colbert.k12.al.us ,Lead Nurse Emily Lanier -elanier@colbert.k12.al.us and Family and Community Liaison Chelsea Yarber-cyarber@colbert.k12.al.us.
