United Way Receives Donation From Alabama Power, Clanton

Alabama Power and the city of Clanton collectively donated a $2,536 check to the United Way at Clanton City Hall on Nov. 3. Clanton Councilwoman Mary Mell Smith presented the check to United Way of Central Alabama’s Yolanda Fox and Brandi Niles-Fleming.

Niles-Fleming is a County Relationship Manager for the United Way of Central Alabama, and Fox is a board member for the nonprofit. Niles-Fleming will be the County Relationship Manager working in Chilton County for the United Way of Central Alabama, and will be the person to contact for anything related to the nonprofit.

“The opportunity to come to Chilton County in this role … it is coming home and serving the place that instilled in me as a child that want to provide social services to the community,” Niles-Fleming said. “I learned that here, and that is why it is important to me to have this position.”

Niles-Fleming grew up in Chilton County and said she “has been a long-time supporter of the United Way of Central Alabama.”

Niles-Fleming was hired by the United Way of Central Alabama in 2019 before Chilton County was taken on.

“It is a way I can give back to the place that made me who I am,” Niles-Fleming said. “I am loving the opportunity and the growth in Chilton County, and there are great things happening here that I am so excited to be a part of.”

“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members,” a quote from Coretta Scott King, is what Niles-Fleming said sums up her feelings on the new position.

“I think that most accurately depicts not only the mission of the United Way of Central Alabama, but it depicts what this community is about,” Niles-Fleming said.
