The Colbert County Sheriff’s Office has extended holiday greetings to the community, emphasizing the importance of spending time with loved ones during the festive season. Sheriff Eric Balentine expressed appreciation for the office’s staff and deputies, acknowledging their dedication throughout the year.

“I would like to take this opportunity to recognize and express my gratitude to our outstanding staff for everything they do for our office and community. I want to thank all our deputies and staff for their dedication and encourage you to do the same when you see them,” said Sheriff Balentine.

He further noted, “We are all very thankful for their hard work and commitment to our office and community throughout the year, not just around the holidays. I believe it is essential to show our appreciation to those who have been vital to our organization’s success.”

Sheriff Balentine also thanked local residents for contributing to public safety: “I would also like to thank our community for all they have done to make our area a safer place to live and raise a family.”

For those traveling during the holidays, he urged caution on the roads. The message included winter driving tips from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, such as avoiding distractions while driving, obeying speed limits, wearing seat belts, preparing vehicles with emergency supplies like a snow shovel and jumper cables, and ensuring that vehicle lights and wipers are functioning properly.

Additional information about safe winter driving can be found at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration website.

Sheriff Balentine concluded his message by wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season: “Enjoy your holiday season in safety and happiness. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!”
